Every position is computed from the NASA JPL DE440 ephemeris — the same planetary data used for spacecraft navigation — to sub-arcsecond precision. ChatGPT does not estimate the answer; it asks Open Ephemeris, which calculates it. Your birth time is resolved through the time zone and daylight-saving rules in force on that date, in that place, so the houses and the rising sign land where they should.

Signing in creates a free account with 150 calculation credits and no card. A birth chart costs one credit; richer questions cost more (a compatibility reading 3, a world map 10). The credits never expire. When they run low you can top up for a few dollars — no subscription, no monthly bill.

From our privacy policy: birth dates and times, geographic coordinates, subject names, and any other parameters submitted for ephemeris computation are processed entirely in working memory. These inputs are NEVER written to any database, cache, persistent log, file system, or third-party service. Spirit River retains no record of your computation inputs. Your conversation with ChatGPT itself is a separate matter: that conversation — including any birth date, time, place, or name you type — is processed by the provider of that assistant under their privacy policy, not ours. Spirit River has no access to, and no control over, your conversation history with an AI assistant, how that provider retains it, or whether that provider uses it for model training.

Say so, and ask for the parts that don't need it. The Sun, the planets, and (on most days) the Moon can be placed from the date alone. The rising sign and the houses move about one degree every four minutes, so they need a real clock time — without one, ask for the Sun, Moon, and planet signs only rather than a full chart.
