The Astrology Lead Magnet That Actually Works: A Free Chart Behind an Email

How astrologers and coaches collect emails with a free natal or Human Design chart on their own site. Consent-first, birth data on every lead, no code.

If you sell readings, courses, or coaching, you already have the best lead magnet in the business. You are just letting a free chart site run it for you.

Here is what happens now. A visitor lands on your site, reads about your approach, and at some point needs their chart. You either tell them to go get it somewhere else, or they already know to. They go. They spend ten minutes on a page with someone else's ads and someone else's definitions. Some come back. Most do not. The one thing they wanted from you, the chart, was delivered by a stranger, and the email that should have been yours went nowhere.

The fix is not a PDF or a quiz. It is the chart itself, on your page, behind your email gate.

Here's the thing I wish someone had told me before I built any of this: your prospects already trust you with their birth time. That's a more personal thing than an email address, and they hand it over happily to get their chart. All the widget does is let you be the one who gives them the chart, on your site, with a consent box that means what it says. Do that, and the lead you get isn't a name on a list. It's someone you can already say something true to.

Why a chart beats every other astrology lead magnet

A "free mini reading" PDF is generic by definition. A "which planet are you" quiz is entertainment. A chart is the one thing every serious prospect needs, cannot get without giving you the birth data, and will keep.

That birth data is the whole point. When the lead arrives with date, time, and place attached, your first message can say something true: "You're a Cancer rising with Saturn on the Descendant, which is why relationships are where the work is." Compare that with "thanks for subscribing." One opens a conversation; the other is a newsletter.

How it works

  1. A visitor on your site enters birth date, time, and place into the chart widget.
  2. Before the full chart unlocks, they see your gate: a headline you wrote, an email field, and a consent checkbox with wording you control. The checkbox cannot be hidden or pre-ticked. No consent, no lead.
  3. They get their chart, computed on your page. Natal wheel or Human Design bodygraph, in your house system, with your logo.
  4. You get the lead: in your dashboard immediately, in your inbox within the hour, and exportable as CSV. On Pro it is also pushed through a Zapier or Make webhook into Mailchimp, Kit, Flodesk, or HubSpot with the birth details as fields.
This is the real widget, live. Enter birth details and the chart renders here. Lead capture is switched off on this demo.

(The demo above has the gate switched off so you can see the chart. On your site the gate is one toggle.)

The gate is consent-first because it has to be. Birth data is personal; an email attached to it is more so. A pre-ticked box or a hidden opt-in is the kind of thing that gets a list flagged and a practitioner's reputation dented.

So: explicit checkbox, your wording, stored with the consent version. Leads are yours; we delete them from our side after 90 days. Visitors who generate a chart without opting in are processed transiently: computed, rendered, gone. Nothing is stored unless they chose to leave it.

What it costs to run a lead magnet this way

Nothing to set up. The widget, the gate, and lead delivery to your dashboard, inbox, and CSV are free on every OpenEphemeris account, including the free tier. What you pay for is the charts: 3 credits each, from a wallet that starts with 150 credits and tops up from $5. No subscription unless you want the Zapier/Make webhook, the synastry bi-wheel, white-label, or high volume (Pro, $29/month).

Put differently: a lead magnet that costs you about 10 cents per chart at the $5 top-up rate, and nothing while the site is quiet.

What the alternatives really cost

Put the options side by side, counting your time and what each one hands you at the end.

OptionWhat it costs youWhat you get per visitor
Link out to a free chart site$0 and the visitorA chart on someone else's page, no email, their ads
"Free mini reading" PDF behind a formHours to write; generic by designAn email, no birth data, a follow-up that could be to anyone
WordPress chart pluginTypically $0–100/year, plus breakage on updatesA rough chart, no email capture
Custom build against an API$1,000–3,000 to build, then maintenanceWhatever you specified, and a developer to call when it breaks
Chart widget, free tier3 credits per chart: about 10¢ at the $5 top-up, about 7¢ at $20A real chart on your page, plus an email with the birth data attached

Now the other side of the ledger. A single reading is $100–300 for most practitioners. At the $20 top-up rate, one booking pays for roughly 1,500 to 4,500 charts. If one visitor in a hundred who generates a chart ever books, the widget returns its cost dozens of times over, and everyone else on that list got their real chart from you rather than from a stranger. The math is not close. The reason practitioners have not done this before is that it was not possible without a developer, and now it is one Code block.

Where to put it

  • A dedicated "Your Chart" page, linked from your menu and your bio. This is the link you share.
  • Above the fold on the home page, if the chart is the core of what you do.
  • At the end of blog posts, where a reader who has just learned what a Saturn return is wants to know when theirs is.

Install is two lines in any HTML block: Squarespace, WordPress, Wix, Webflow, Showit. Configure once in the dashboard; every change goes live without re-pasting.

What to do with the lead

The birth data makes the follow-up write itself. A short sequence to try:

  1. Immediately (automated via Zapier on Pro, or by hand from the email): "Here's the one thing I noticed in your chart." (The webhook hands Zapier the birth details, so you can reference the chart; the visitor already has it from your page.) Even one sentence about a placement turns a subscriber into someone who has been read.
  2. Day 3: what a session with you covers, and what it costs.
  3. Day 7: a date-anchored hook. "Your Saturn return starts in March" is a reason to book that no generic email has.

Every step is possible only because the chart came in with the email. That is the difference between a lead magnet and a list.

Create a free account and the gate is live in about ten minutes. No card required.
